Multi-Disciplinary Educator
I believe that the goal of teaching is to engage curiosity and imagination within each student. That, by engaging with imagination and curiosity learners can create a society that has greater freedoms and a deeper connection between people, content and nature. I seek to support students in individualized, authentic learning by using visual arts as a conduit for multidispiplanry learning which blends SSSTEAM (Social Science, Science, technology, Engineering, Art, Math) disciplines .

Using Authentic Education and the theory of Multiple Intelligences to illustrate ways in which comics and role-playing games can be implemented in the classroom. When learners read and create comics they are being asked to embrace a narrative in different lenses, namely visual and literary. In role-playing games, learners are being asked to not only embrace a narrative but to create a space for themselves inside it. By engaging in both of these practices, the classroom becomes a conduit of social-emotional exploration, narrative creation, social experimentation and provides a safe place for risk taking and improvisation. This paper seeks to illustrate the use of role-playing games as a practice of narrative engagement and creation of comics as a method of reflection. Both modes of storytelling involve different aspects of Authentic Education and draw on each type of intelligence (as codified in the Theory of Multiple Intelligences) and act as
a conductor for play.
